Early rehabilitation of coronary artery disease

Cardiology and Vascular Medicine

Reduced cardiopulmonary capacity in congenital heart disease impairs quality of life. In this multicenter, randomized, controlled trial, researchers evaluated the value of an early 12-week hybrid cardiac rehabilitation program (multidisciplinary care sessions and physical activity sessions). A total of 142 adolescent and young adult patients were included in the trial. Patients who benefited from this program at the center and at home showed improvements in quality of life score, BMI, level of physical activity and level of knowledge of their disease. The acceptability, safety and short-term effect of this intervention were good to excellent.
