n Japanese, neuro-ophthalmology is referred to as Shinkei Ganka, or "ophthalmology of the divine." This evocative term underscores the profound and intricate nature of one of medicine's most fascinating specialties. The 2025 Congress of Neuro-Ophthalmology Francophone (CNOF) will bring together leading specialists in the field in the historic city of Nîmes. This event holds a special significance as it pays tribute to Dr. Catherine Vignal, who has been a pivotal inspiration for many in the field.

Set in the "French Rome," Nîmes offers a unique blend of history and charm, with landmarks such as the Arena of Nîmes, the Tour Magne, and the recently UNESCO-listed Maison Carrée. The city's emblem, the crocodile, harks back to the Roman coin As de Nîmes, commemorating the victory of Augustus and Agrippa over Mark Antony and Cleopatra at the Battle of Actium in 31 BCE. In Nîmes, Roman heritage is present at every turn.

The congress, scheduled for January 23 and 24, 2025, promises to be an essential meeting for the neuro-ophthalmology community, set against the backdrop of this remarkable city.
