The 5th Harvey Cushing Symposium will take place on April 18 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the amphitheater of the American Hospital of Paris. Centered on the theme "Reinventing the University Hospital: An International Vision," this edition will explore the evolving role of academic hospitals as key pillars of healthcare, education, and medical innovation.

Bringing together international experts, particularly from the United States, the event will feature contributions from Weill Cornell Medicine, Columbia University, and leading French university hospitals. The morning sessions will consist of three expert-led workshops addressing critical transformations in healthcare: the shift from paternalism to partnership with patients, the role of university hospitals beyond specialized care, and the training of future healthcare leaders for 2040.

The afternoon will be dedicated to the restitution of these discussions, offering participants an opportunity to engage with and challenge the ideas presented. The symposium will be conducted in both English and French, with simultaneous translation available.
