The International Symposium on Perinatal and Early Life Immunity will take place from 9th to 12th April 2025 in Freiburg, Germany. This event brings together leading scientists from around the world to examine and challenge recent discoveries in early immune development. Key discussions will focus on how the fetal immune system prepares for and adapts to the transition from intrauterine to postnatal life, as well as its enduring effects on cellular immunity and associated organ functions.

The symposium will address pivotal questions, including:

• The role of preprogrammed development and endogenous cues in steering innate immune cell differentiation, tissue adaptation, and infection immunity.
• The impact of the birth transition on tissue immune architecture and its topology.
• The influence of postnatal factors, such as the microbiota and metabolic changes, on innate immune cell differentiation and function within immunological niches.

A significant emphasis will be placed on translational aspects of immune development, exploring how deeper insights into underlying mechanisms could drive innovations in diagnosis, prediction, and therapy.

The program will feature expert lectures, highlight talks, and an interactive poster session, providing a platform for internationally renowned scientists and early career researchers to present and discuss original findings. Interdisciplinary dialogue will be encouraged to inspire new hypotheses and foster collaborations in this dynamic research field.
